Frodsham Wind Farm White

Habitat Management

Frodsham Wind Farm is located mainly on the Frodsham Canal Deposit Grounds and also nearby agricultural land. This offers a diverse range of habitats and wildlife value.

Before construction started we established a ‘Habitat Creation & Management Group’ (HCMG) to ensure that the objectives we had set out during the planning application (contained in the Habitat Creation & Management Plan) were delivered, and also to safeguard wildlife and ecology interests during construction and operation of the wind farm.

The HCMG comprises officers from Cheshire West and Chester Council acting in both an advisory and regulatory role, the RSPB, Cheshire and Wirral Ornithological Society, Natural England and Cheshire Wildlife Trust. The Group is chaired by our ecological consultant and landowners are also represented.

The HCMG meets every quarter to review progress and against HCMP objectives, discuss opportunities to further enhance wildlife interests and consider any problems that are encountered which might impact on the site’s ecology and wildlife. The meetings are not open to the public but outcomes from HCMG meetings as well as some key documents are available below:
